NaNoWriMo Failure
As the calendar in the right panel shows, I am failing miserably this year in the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) competition. I should have written about 27,000 words by now and I am at an anemic 5,499. I really thought I would do better this year. I got an idea for my novel in February, including the entire story arc which I wrote as a Flash Fiction piece. I found a subject expert to help me though the stuff I did not know. I worked on a larger outline. I worked on smaller pieces in between that would work as parts of separate chapters. I fleshed out characters. I scoured the Internet for information and made lists of links referring back to them. I mapped out in Google Maps where everything occurred. I have never been so prepared to write anything. Then, three weeks before NaNo, I got a job.
I had been unemployed for seven months and for most of the prior two years I had telecommuted to work, so my sense of time management was thrown for a loop having to drive into work every morning and back every evening. I find when I come in from work that the last thing I want to do is write. So, I struggle, like every writer struggles.
I still have half a month to go. I wonder where I will be when this month ends?
